Tegora vs Thumbtack and Angi

Renting leads,or owning where they come from.

Thumbtack and Angi send you leads you pay for one at a time, often shared with other pros. Tegora builds the website, Google profile and lead response you own, so customers come to you directly. Plenty of owners use both: a marketplace to fill this week, their own system for the next five years.

When Thumbtack and Angi are the right choice

You need work this week

A marketplace can put requests in front of you fast, with no website of your own.

No commitment on Thumbtack

Thumbtack says there is no charge to join and no membership or contract fees. You set a budget and pay per lead. 1

Filling a slow season

A short burst of marketplace leads can cover a quiet month while your own system grows.

Where marketplace leads get expensive

You pay either way

A lead that does not turn into a job is still charged. 4

You race other pros

One pro wrote on Thumbtack's own forum: "it's $112 and the customer contacted FIVE pros." The fastest answer usually wins. 5

It stops when you stop paying

The leads end the day the budget does. Nothing you paid for keeps working for you.

What Tegora does instead

Leads that come to you only

Your website and Google profile bring customers who searched for you, not a request sent to five pros.

Every lead answered in under a minute

An AI receptionist answers every call and form, day and night, books the visit and flags emergencies. Quotes get followed up until the customer says yes or no.

You own all of it

The website, the domain, your Google profile and every lead are yours from day one. If you leave, you keep everything.

One screen that shows what is working

Your console shows every lead, where it came from, where you rank and how far your Google Maps reach goes, street by street.

Questions

Should I quit Thumbtack or Angi?

Not necessarily. If they bring you profitable jobs, keep them while your own system grows. Your console shows where every lead came from, so you can see which ones are worth it.

What does Tegora cost?

One monthly fee for the whole system and the people running it. We quote it on the first call, after looking at your business, because a roofer and a cleaning company need different things.

Am I locked into a long contract?

The first 90 days cover the install and your first two monthly sprints. After that it is month to month.

Who owns the website and data?

You do: the site, the domain, your Google profile and every lead. Tegora runs the system on top of them, and you keep all of it if you leave.

Who is Tegora for?

Owner-run home service businesses doing roughly $20K to $80K a month with a crew, mostly in DC, Maryland and Virginia. If that is not you, we will say so on the call.
